Tesla Model 3 approved for New York yellow cab fleet

The Ford Crown Victoria was the first car to became the de facto New York yellow cab icon. Then, the Toyota Camry. Next, the Tesla Model 3? It’s absolutely possible, because the vehicle is now certified to operate as a NYC yellow cab. Electrek first reported the news on Tuesday, after a tipoff from a reader who pointed out the Big Apple’s latest cab roster. Roadshow confirmed the Model 3′s approval with the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission.  The roster shows each vehicle and what medallion it earned. Clearly marked is the 2019 Tesla Model 3, though humorously, it doesn’t earn an alternative fuel medallion. The segment is only for hybrids and natural gas-powered taxi cabs. The news marks a small piece of automotive history: This is the first time an electric car has received approval from the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission for yellow cab duty. There are plenty of hybrids listed (most of them Toyota models) but so far, not one EV has made the approved list. There are fewer than 40 vehicles listed for approval from the TLC, which perhaps make the honor doubly important. The approval process involves inspection from the commission for ...

Here are all of the Chinese products that are set to face a 30% tariff this month

President Donald Trump has slapped punishing tariffs on thousands of imports, sparking a tit-for-tat trade dispute with China that has dragged on for more than a year and a half. From higher prices to stalled investment, the consequences of those policies have become increasingly evident across both of the largest economies. While the Trump administration often insists China pays its tariffs, evidence shows those costs fall onto American businesses and consumers. As the two sides struggle to defuse tensions, protectionism will soon reach levels not seen since the 1960′s. On October 15, the Trump administration plans to raise the tariff rate on on $250 billion worth of Chinese products to 30% from 25%. Now read: The chief strategist at a $1 trillion investing giant says Trump is doomed to lose his trade war – and explains why that would be the best possible outcome for markets Crimping Pliers, Cold Pressing Pliers, Wire Stripper, Cable Cutter, Crimping Tools – Sibo,https://www.nicecripingtool.com/

Looking for stylish, cruelty-free shoes? These footwear brands make the best leather-free, sustainable, vegan sneakers out

Looking for stylish, cruelty-free shoes? These footwear brands make the best leather-free, sustainable, vegan sneakers out there. Jemima has been writing for LIVEKINDLY for two years. She has studied songwriting at a music university in London and Psychology at Newcastle University in Australia. She is now exploring living kindly through her volunteer work at an animal sanctuary and her Environmental studies. Sneakers are fast becoming a favorite in the footwear scene. Women’s sneaker sales grew 37 percent in 2017, while high heel sales fell by 11 percent.  For something that we rely on every day, most of us don’t put a lot of thought into the eco-friendliness of the sneakers we wear. But what we put on our feet can have a huge impact. The fashion and footwear industries emit as many greenhouse gases as all of Russia. Footwear alone generates 700 million metric tons CO2eq per year, according to the 2018 Environmental Impact of the Global Apparel and Footwear Industries Study. To put that in perspective, that’s equal to the greenhouse gas emissions produced by nearly 149 million cars driven for one year.  Leather is used to make a quarter of shoes in the US, according to the 201...

The Allied invasion of Algeria and French Morocco in November 1942 was a complex and daring

The Allied invasion of Algeria and French Morocco in November 1942 was a complex and daring operation that would not have succeeded without American naval air power. U.S. Navy Task Force 34 voyaged through some 4,500 miles of U-boat–infested waters to land Army Maj. Gen. George S. Patton’s soldiers on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. In addition to escorting warships, that flotilla — part of Operation Torch, as it was code-named — included the venerable aircraft carrier Ranger and four newly-minted escort carriers: Santee, Suwanee, Sangamon and Chenango. The flattops ferried 109 Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat fighters, 36 Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless dive bombers and 27 Grumman TBF-1 Avenger torpedo bombers that would support the amphibious assault on the Vichy French. Morocco’s defenses included a small squadron of French destroyers, a pair of submarines and the uncompleted battleship Jean Bart, moored in Casablanca Harbor. French air units in Morocco accounted for a total of 208 aircraft, nearly half of them built in the United States. In addition to Douglas DB-7s and Martin 167 Baltimore light bombers, they included 46 Curtiss H-75A fighters (export versions of the P-36A Hawk). Among the Hawk uni...

During the early part of the week all eyes were on the sky in the Costa

During the early part of the week all eyes were on the sky in the Costa Cálida as meteorologists warned that another “gota fría” storm was forming over the eastern coast of Spain and most of the Region of Murcia was placed on yellow alert on Tuesday. With the disastrous flooding caused by another storm in September so fresh in the memory many feared the worst and the authorities rightly prepared for more floods, but thankfully the rainfall, while persistent and at times heavy, was relatively moderate throughout the Region of Murcia. The maximum rainfall reported on Tuesday was 42.2 millimetres in La Manga del Mar Menor, with no serious flooding reported, and this weekend the forecast is for wall-to-wall sunshine and 25 degrees in the Costa Cálida! On the other hand, much of Catalunya suffered heavy flooding on Tuesday as the gota fría brought over 200 millimetres of rain to north-eastern Spain, and by Friday morning it was confirmed that at least two people died as a result with another five still missing. Meanwhile, life is still returning to normal in many areas of Murcia after the storm of September, and this week rail services were finally resumed between Lorca and Águilas a...

Life as a committed vegan can sometimes feel like an endless maze of complicated ingredients lists

Life as a committed vegan can sometimes feel like an endless maze of complicated ingredients lists compiled by companies that all seem to have something to hide.  Despite this, there are more vegans than ever before – 540,000 in the UK, up from 150,000 in 2006, according to the Vegan Society – and brands are scrambling to meet consumers’ increasingly eco-friendly demands. Nevertheless, there remain some key ingredients to look out for. Perfume lovers must not only avoid fragrances made with extracts of milk, honey, leather and beeswax, but also secretions from animals used to mark their territories, which are often used as fixatives to make a scent last longer. Civet comes from the anal glands of the endangered wildcat found in India and Africa. The civets are captured and held in cramped cages for years, with the musk being “scraped” out every 10 days. Brutal and icky as this sounds, civet musk is still present in many of the world’s favourite perfumes. The problem is, you wouldn’t know it, because companies are not legally obliged to disclose the ingredients used in their scents. They count as “trade secret formulas” and are exempt. Instead, you’ll simply see “fragrance”, “per...

Latest Research Report to uncover key Factors of Global Electrical Wires Market

Wires are able to carry electrical energy, which are divided into bare wire, magnet wire and insulated wire. Bare wires have no insulating layers, including copper, aluminum flat wires, aerial strands, and various sections (such as profile lines, bus bars, copper bars, aluminum bars, etc.). It is mainly used for outdoor overhead and indoor busbars and switch boxes. Electromagnetic wire is an insulated wire that generates a magnetic field after being energized or induces a current in a magnetic field. It is mainly used for motor and transformer windings and other related electromagnetic equipment. The conductor is mainly a copper wire, and should have a thin insulating layer and good electrical and mechanical properties, as well as heat, moisture, solvent resistance and other properties. Different insulation materials can be used to obtain different characteristics. First of all, the increasing demand for power, light and communication has kept demand high for wire and cable. Second, building wires will remain the biggest market and will followed by fiber optic wire and power. Talking about the power sector, copper holds high significance in terms of usage and consumption in this...
